Disabled Hunt – October 9th, 2004

This is an annual event, although I am not exactly sure when we held our first hunt. It was sometime back in the late 1980s. This year’s hunt was held at the Brent Volkert farm, East of Star Prairie. 200 birds were purchased for the hunt from Krug’s Northwoods Pheasant Farm in Medford, Wi. Breakfast and lunch was provided for all attendees and workers. There were 20 hunters with varying degrees of disabilities. All participants were also allowed to fish at the Star Prairie Trout Farm, if they wished. Transportation to and from was provided by the St. Croix County Health Center handicapped accessible van. The use of Six-wheel drive Gators for transporting the hunters into the field were donated by Polfus implement of New Richmond and Greene Implement of Osceola.
